I'm bit of a scrooge when it comes to Christmas. I see 'God' the same way I do as the tooth fairy. But I was curious as to how the Australians see the 'Festive Season'. They have pretty much all the same traditions that they do in Canada. I orignally planned on going to a party near Bondi Beach. But after seeing only 10 people in the pavillion and hearing the price tag of 80 dollars (perhaps why there was such a poor turnout), I decided to make other plans. I laid out on the beach for a while (it was 26 degrees and sunny after all) and walked around town for a while. I had ice cream in leau of a turkey dinner.

I don't have much else planned for the evening. I'm going to see "The Holiday" in a minute.

Well, the chaos is finally coming to an end. I found a place to live in downtown Sydney. I'll have 6 room mates in a 3 bedroom apartment. But it'll be way better than living in a hostel. BTW, the janitor at the hostel threw out everyone's food. We're all pretty pissed. But I'll be moving out soon, so I won't be angry for long.

So the lady that was going to rent me the flat never called. I had to call her daughter today and ask about it. Not only did they decide not to rent to me after they said they would, they tried to get away without telling me either. And not only that, but every bed in Sydney is booked solid. So I go to hostels door to door hoping there was a cancellation or a no show. (I have to leave my hostel soon. There is 28 night max rule) I scored some luck. The first hostel I went to had a bed available for two nights. So I booked that. Then I went to another one and they had a cancellation. So a bed is vacant until the 3rd. Phewf! I'm seeing another flat tomorrow. EVERYONE CROSS YOU FINGERS THAT SHE DOESN'T JERK ME AROUND!

So I'm in the market for a flat (an apartment for those who don't know). I saw this really nice one not too far from the city centre. It was absolutely perfect, and better yet, the lady really liked me. She said that she would call me on Friday and we can set up a date to move in and stuff. I really hope she calls soon. I'm going to be booted out of my hostel really soon and every hostel/hotel in the city is packed.

Cross you fingers for me!

Its me again. Time for another update. I just took my bartending exam. I got 99%. The question I got wrong was in regaurds to white wine. We had to select the white wines on a list of about 10. I selected 'Campari' as one of them. I knew it was wrong, but I couldn't remember the last white wine. Most of them were wines that I'd never heard of before. I got a job for a New Years Eve party. Its in North Sydney. $35/hour plus tips. I'm looking for apartments now. I haven't seen one yet though. I think I might see one tonight. i'm getting sick of my hostel. I think its ok if you're constantly on the move (like I was in Europe), but two weeks of it just sucks. Some of the people are really noisy. We were watching 'Castaway' in the common room last night. And then a bunch of people walked and started talking really loudly. And as of the 23rd, the rates will triple. It will cost me $520 for the week to sleep in a bunk bed in a room with 11 other girls. Not worth it.
