Its me again. Time for another update. I just took my bartending exam. I got 99%. The question I got wrong was in regaurds to white wine. We had to select the white wines on a list of about 10. I selected 'Campari' as one of them. I knew it was wrong, but I couldn't remember the last white wine. Most of them were wines that I'd never heard of before. I got a job for a New Years Eve party. Its in North Sydney. $35/hour plus tips. I'm looking for apartments now. I haven't seen one yet though. I think I might see one tonight. i'm getting sick of my hostel. I think its ok if you're constantly on the move (like I was in Europe), but two weeks of it just sucks. Some of the people are really noisy. We were watching 'Castaway' in the common room last night. And then a bunch of people walked and started talking really loudly. And as of the 23rd, the rates will triple. It will cost me $520 for the week to sleep in a bunk bed in a room with 11 other girls. Not worth it.

Thats about it.

Cheers

Just taking a break

Hey all!

I'm just jotting down a quick update while I'm on break during my RSA course. Its pretty much the same thing as 'Smart Serve'. Its all about Australian laws involving drinking and serving alcohol. Bartenders in Australia make so much more than Canada. Probably why I never bothered with it back home. They only make like $6/hour there. That frieghtened me a bit because what if you keep serving cheepoes that don't like to tip?

I have an interview for a job with Amnesty International next week. But I'm not sure if I want to do fundraising. I did that for a little bit when I was in film school, and I don't think I want to repeat history (I hated it, going up to people and asking for money sucks.).

I have tickets to see John Mayer in April. I have to make sure I'm in Sydney that day. 11th row. In other music news (or lack there of), Hanson is very tight lipped in regaurds to their next tour. They said that they'll tour in November. Well its now December and NOTHING! Although, there are a few dates in Europe in Feburary. But they're coming from the venues, not the band. I'm hoping they'll come to the South Pacific after Europe, then head to North America. It'd be so cool to see them proform in a foreign country. And if they tour North America after, I can still see them. I've never missed a Toronto date, I think I might just roll over and die. And don't say I won't!

Anyway, I have to head back to class.

Cheers Mate!

Damn Hollywood sequel movie premeires!

During my tour of Europe, I stumbled upon two movie premeires that in one way or another inconvienced me in some way. In Rome, it rained quite a bit. So I decided to go to the Warner Brothers theatre at Piazza Republica and see V for Vandetta. I walk over there and BAM! Basic Instinct 2 premiere is in full throttle. In Paris, I was walking to my friend Jess's apartment, and BAM! Mission Impossible 3 premiere. And that caused me hell because the only way I knew to get there was through the theatre. And so I'm out today walk around and BAM! Casino Royale premiere. It wasn't that big of a deal though, I was only on my way home from Bondi. Anyway, tootles.

Its good to be me

I'm at Bondi Beach right now. Its absolutely gorgeous. the water is bright azure and the sand is so nice. At the beach back home (Toronto, for the peeps in cyber space who don't know me), they're covered in pepples and glass and junk. Not Bondi, pure sand. I don't want to leave this beach. Its that perfect. Earlier today, I went to Sydney Wildlife World. IMGP1226.JPG
We don't have too many kuala bears and kangaroos back home. So its nice to see that. One thing that I could have done without are the employees that walk around with snakes and lizards (with their bare hands!) and ask you to pet them. I'd like to keep my fingers attached to my body, thank you.

One really good thing about Sydney (well, two to be exact) are the public parks. One I go to in the morning to jog is Hyde Park. Its right in downtown Sydney which is perfect because its right by my hostel. Another one is the Royal Botanic Garden. It houses many exotic plants and animals and landscapes (well, not exotic to Australians). IMGP1200.JPG

One of the more creepy indiginous creatures are Flying Foxes, aka BATS!
IMGP1199.JPG Now I don't recall ever seeing a bat up close before. So its a little unnerving when you look up and there are like 200 hanging right above you.

I'm going to go to Blue Mountain tomorrow. But right now, I have to apply my 13th layer of sunscreen.

Cheers

Job hunting time

Hey guys.

I've started the job hunting. Time to fulfil the 'working' part of 'working holiday'. I applied to work at a vinyard in Victoria (another Australian province). Should be cool. I'm hoping to get jobs that I could never get anywhere else in the world. Kangaroo walker or Walabee groomer or something. We'll see what happens.

See ya.
